How to Prepare for Technical Interviews as a Fresher

Placement season can be overwhelming. With dozens of companies visiting campus and thousands of students competing, you need a structured plan. Here's the roadmap I wish I had when I was preparing.

The 3-Month Plan

Month 1: Foundation (DSA Basics)

Week 1-2: Arrays & Strings

3:00 PM  - 5:00 PM   → Work on your project
5:00 PM  - 6:00 PM   → 1 problem from weak area
8:00 PM  - 9:00 PM   → Read one technical blog post

Every fresher needs at least 2 impressive projects:

Interview Day Tips

Before the Interview

Review your resume — every line can be questioned

Practice explaining your projects in 2 minutes

Test your internet connection and webcam (for virtual interviews)

Keep water nearby and a notebook for notes

During the Technical Round

Clarify the problem — ask questions before coding

Think out loud — the interviewer wants to see your thought process

Start with brute force — mention it, then optimize

Write clean code — variable names matter

Test with examples — walk through your solution with sample input

Discuss time and space complexity — always mention Big O

During the HR Round

Common questions and how to answer:

"Tell me about yourself" → 60-second elevator pitch (education + skills + projects)

"Why this company?" → Research the company's products and culture

"Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" → Growth in the technical track

"Your biggest weakness?" → Something genuine + what you're doing to improve
